Assessments
Understanding how a brain works can change everything.
I offer a range of assessments for children and adults, with a focus on understanding the whole person rather than simply finding a label.
Assessment can provide clarity around how you think, learn and experience the world, including strengths, challenges, and whether ADHD, autism or other cognitive differences may be contributing to everyday difficulties.
Most importantly, it offers a clearer roadmap forward, with personalised recommendations for home, school or work. Rather than wondering “why is this so hard?”, it can bring understanding, confidence and practical strategies to help you - or your child - thrive.
Some of the assessments I offer:
-
An ADHD assessment explores patterns of attention, activity, impulsivity, organisation and regulation, and how these show up across everyday life.
-
Autism assessments explore the way a person communicates, connects, processes information and experiences the world, including their individual strengths, differences and support needs.
-
Cognitive assessments help build a picture of how a person thinks and learns, including areas such as verbal reasoning, visual-spatial skills, working memory and processing speed.
They can be particularly helpful when there are questions about learning, giftedness, uneven cognitive profiles or how best to support someone at school or in everyday life.
Not sure which assessment you need?
That’s completely okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out before getting in touch.
1.
INITIAL CONSULTATION
We’ll start with an intake appointment to discuss what you’ve noticed, what you’re hoping to understand and whether an assessment is likely to be helpful. From there, we can work out the most appropriate next step. For child assessments, this part is conducted with parent/s only.
2.
ASSESSMENT
This may involve online questionnaires and interviews with relevant parties. For children, this will also include a separate session with your child and conversations with teachers and/or caregivers. I typically use the MIGDAS-2 to identify autism, and the Conners 4 / CBRS / DIVA-5 to identify ADHD, though these tools can vary depending on individual presentations.
3.
FEEDBACK SESSION
Behind the scenes, I’ll bring all of the information together, interpret the assessment findings, and prepare a report which outlines your/your child’s strengths, support needs and recommendations. We’ll then meet to talk through the results, answer your questions and discuss practical next steps.
